After being denied of a Krispy Kreme franchise, the Trillana-de Ocampo family decided to put up their own donut shop. Owners said that they created their donuts ‘similar to Krispy Kreme’s but less sweet, larger and last a longer period.’ Despite its capability to raise prices, they have always maintained affordability, which they believe is one of their key reasons for success.

Mister Donut

Mister Donut is a donut company founded in the United States in 1956. It is now headquartered in Japan, where it has more than 1,300 stores. In 2014, Mister Donut finally brought Japan’s most famous Pon de Rings to the Philippines and have been the talk of the town for its chewy dough. Here’s a fun fact that even we were surprised by: Wikipedia writes that after Mister Donut was acquired by Allied Lyons in 1990, most of its North American stores became the Dunkin Donuts we also love.

Scarsdale is a local specialty coffee shop that offers artisan and upscale donuts (and croughnuts) that reflect the high-end Scarsdale community in New York; hence the name. Gavino’s Donuts

Gavino’s Japanese Donuts is a local gourmet donut brand and is the first to offer ‘gooey and chewy mochi donuts’ in the Philippines. Owners Andrew and Michelle Que discovered and loved mochi donuts from their travels abroad and decided Filipinos would love it too. After spending a year in the kitchen, Gavino’s Japanese Donuts, which is named after their son, is born.

Cello’s Doughnuts & Dips

Cello’s was born out of wife Cello’s love of baking and husband Jutes’ love of eating. In 2004, the enterprising couple opened its first branch in Katipunan and hasn’t stopped since, expanding their menu from just traditional donuts to stuffed donuts and even customized letter donuts. Fun fact: They are the same owners of Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza.

Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts opened their first store in the Philippines in 1981 at the Quad Car Park (now Park Square) in Makati. Their local jingle and slogan ‘Pasalubong ng Bayan’ may well be one of the best marketing campaigns of the 90’s. Aside from small outlets and take out shops, they now have full blown cafes where people can stay and enjoy their treats.

Pan de Donuts by Pan de Manila

Pan de Manila is one of the country’s leading bakeries specializing in pan de sal (or salt bread), the most popular and most loved bread by Filipinos. In 2014, Pan de Manila released a new line of delicacy called Pan de Donuts, a cross breed between pan de sal and donuts. They came out with 16 new flavors that are very Filipino using toppings like Nips, ube, Chocnut and polvoron.
