Balestier

Mikee comes from a family of restaurateurs— the same family that brought in Sbarro and owns Burgoo. He admits Balestier became a passion project for him after a Singaporean franchise he brought in, failed to take off.

Trivia: Balestier is a street in Singapore known for its fantastic selection of local eateries. Check out our list of Must-Try Places in Singapore for your next trip!

Undeterred by this setback, he and his partner were convinced that Filipinos would be more receptive to this cuisine they loved so much if they did it their own way. So they did.

The hip space was designed by the owners themselves. Inspired by their travels around Asia, Mikee and Amanda wanted to emulate the trendy places they had encountered which were minimalistic in design with industrial touches.

Fun Fact: They sourced the furniture for the restaurant right here in Marikina!

Like the city that influenced it, Balestier’s menu is a vibrant melting pot. It’s fusion at its finest with dishes like Laksa Tsukemen, Bak Kut Teh Risotto, and Salted Egg chicken wings. The flavors are familiar but served with a twist:
