It’s one of the most popular university eats in UP and UST.
BIG B is a university burger joint started by a group of friends from UP Diliman who did not have any culinary backgrounds or experiences. Its humble beginnings as a dorm-to-dorm burger delivery service eventually caught the community’s eyes and bellies as they have now expanded to 3 branches–one in UP Los Banos and the newest one, in UST.
Big B is most popular for their innovative 50:50 burgers, which are burgers with patties made of 50% beef and 50% of something else (i.e., bacon, longganisa and spam). Their best selling combo, no surprise here, is their signature beef and bacon burger.
Big B burgers are available in quarter pound size, half pound and one full pound with the half and full pound patties being bigger than the buns.
To give your burgers that additional oomph, hit it with multiple shots of their homemade Awesomesauce from a baking syringe gun, an idea which actually came from one of the owners’ Mom.
Now don’t forget to order their Poutine Ina Mo Fries and definitely not the Pink Potion with Feelings, because you’re in for a funny theatrical performance. It’s a drink that started out as a joke but has somehow become a signature at Big B’s.
Aside from their food, their fun menu list/names and ‘hugot’-filled wall posters amuse students so much that they’ve become two of the most photographed items in their store, when you search for Big B online.
Here’s a neat insider tip: The menu changes from time to time! Resident pseudochefs offer new products (via the ‘Wild Card’ item on their menu) from random late-night kitchen experiments—that’s how the Hangovurger began (waffle buns, cheese omelette and pancake syrup), and you can expect more of that in the months to come.
