C H E E S E!

Filipinos obviously love all kinds of Japanese treats, from ramen down to the desserts. It’s one of the most popular cuisine searched on Booky!

Whether you’re craving for Pablo, looking for cheaper options (that doesn’t sacrifice the taste and quality), or waiting for that next big brand to come, this article is definitely for you!

Buttery & Co. – Home-Based / Pop-up

Buttery & Co. is an online bakery that offers homemade, honest to goodness salted egg ensaymada, matcha mamon, and cheese rolls. Recently, they’ve ventured into baking cheese tarts with two flavors to choose from – original and matcha. While they don’t have their own, permanent shop yet, you’ll often see their stall at the weekend food bazaars of UP Town Center.

Pablo – Robinsons Place Manila

Pablo is Japan’s and one of the world’s most popular cheese tart specialists. While they’re known to serve their cheese tarts in either rare or medium form, the standard recipe for the Philippines is ‘medium rare‘, but it still has that signature cheese texture and taste that customers love. Aside from the classic, also try the Matcha-flavored cheese tart and Cheese Soft Serve! Read our full feature here.

A franchise from Japan, Kumori (translated to ‘cloudy’) is a quaint bakery and cafe that promises fresh and authentic Japanese bread and pastries. Customers are invited to ‘Bite Into Clouds’ with their sweets such as the Apple Buns, Hanjuku Cheese and of course, cheese tarts! We heard that they are offering their matcha cheese tarts for a limited time only. More Japanese desserts to try here.
