It’s time to get a little WYLD.

When it comes to the Quezon City nightlife, things may have gotten a bit too familiar. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a good, old-fashioned beer house and we’re never ones to turn down KTV night, but we can’t blame you if you’ve found yourself on the hunt for something a little wilder.

Luckily for those hungry for something different and exciting, the newly-opened WYLD Kitchen x Bar proves that Quezon City still has some very sharp teeth to bare when it comes to daring and innovative bar and restaurant concepts.

Conveniently located along Mother Ignacia Avenue and right next to the boisterous Timog and Tomas Morato areas, WYLD stands out as a welcome breath of fresh air from Quezon City’s standard roster of restaurants. By brandishing a concept that is fully realized and precisely executed along with a dining experience that delivers, WYLD is one of those rare establishments that both impresses and makes a strong impression.

What might this concept be, curious bar-goers ask. Well, when it comes to WYLD, it’s all about giving their customers a taste of the wilderness.

WYLD’s story actually begins thousands and thousands of miles away, all the way up in the diverse and immense landscape of Colorado, USA. Kenn Gonzales, one of WYLD’s principal owners and managers, had spent a significant amount of time working in Colorado. Almost immediately, Kenn had become completely enchanted and captured by Colorado’s incredible outdoors.

Recalling tales of encountering roaming bears and deer in the wild, as well as nights spent gazing and admiring the stars, the experience that nature had provided Kenn was nothing short of inspiring.

Having connected with nature on a completely new level, Kenn knew that he had to take a piece of the Colorado wilderness back home with him to the Philippines. Thus, WYLD was born; more than just a bar or opportunistic business venture, this was a true and sincere love letter to nature.

True to its name and concept, WYLD perform an incredible job of showcasing and celebrating nature and the wilderness.

The first thing that immediately grabs your attention as you enter WYLD are its interiors. Unlike the typical beer house or inuman spot, WYLD sports an aesthetic that truly represents its identity.

WYLD is visually distinct, featuring deep and lush green paired with rustic and re-purposed browns. From the recycled wood used in the tables and chairs to metal piping strewn on the walls, earthy tones dominate WYLD’s insides.

However, earthy doesn’t necessarily have to mean boring. Proving that nature isn’t automatically one-note or old-fashioned, WYLD manages to add a touch of modern sophistication and comfort to its wilderness-based interior. And even without knowledge of its Colorado-inspired designs, WYLD’s decor is pleasing and impressive on its own.

Showing off how well thought and carefully crafted the WYLD concept is, the metal pipes that appear to just be decoration transform into something more as the night goes on. When hit with the lights at the right angle, the pipes and their shadows actually begin to look like tree branches, instantly transporting you from a local bar straight into the heart of an untamed forest.

When it comes to food, it already goes without saying that the cuisine places emphasis on the local and organic. Demonstrating that their dedication for nature isn’t just for display, WYLD makes it a point to support local farmers and use local ingredients as much as they can.

The menu is international, but the details are undeniably local. There is, of course, typical bar chow like nachos and chicken wings, but WYLD elevates the standard by adding their own organic touch.

Almost everything is made in-house with local ingredients- from the dips and vegetable chips to the wings and sauces- allowing for natural, textured flavors.

If you’re on the prowl for dining that’s a touch more intimate, then WYLD has got that covered as well. Their pesto pasta is a definite winner and the flank steak is made with homemade herb butter that will have you coming back for more. Their signature WYLD burger is perfect for fun catch-up sessions with friends.

Matching seamlessly with the food, the signature WYLD drinks and cocktails undoubtedly makes their concept shine.

The single, must-try drink that you cannot miss out on is the Flora x Fauna. What makes this cocktail so special? Quite simply, the chichaworm.

Almost as if capturing a scene straight out of National Geographic, a crisp (and, of course, clean) fried chichaworm floats peacefully on top of a basil leaf, which itself is on a cloud of rose foam. Gin, grapefruit, and fresh lemon compose the rest of the drink, creating a rewarding and unforgettable cocktail that is truly for the brave.

WYLD isn’t a one-trick pony, however, and offers up a whole cast of uniquely local drinks and cocktails. If you’re not up for a bite into the chichaworm, then the Mulberry Sangria and Pinalaya are equally delicious alternatives.

These daring and bold drinks are the result of their partnership with local bartenders from Palawan, brainstorming up new and unique drinks with wild personalities.

Not feeling too adventurous when it comes to the cocktails? There’s no need to worry as WYLD caters to the traditional drinkers, as well. Boasting the complete gauntlet of alcohol staples from everyday beer to high-tier brands and unlimited wine, WYLD has alcohol for every occasion.
