Botejyu is a premier specialty restaurant from Japan and is the renowned pioneer of the okonomiyaki. It is also known as the innovator of the Okosoba (also known as “modernyaki”) which combines okonomiyaki and yakisoba noodles. It’s for those looking to try all of Japan’s specialties in one place. It’s not for foodies not willing to brave the long drive to Pasay. We recommend the Takoyaki All-Star, Beef Curry Udon, Mentaiko & Potato Mochiyaki and their Okosoba selections. Our insider tip is: You can upgrade your orders to a set meal that includes rice, kimchi, and a bowl of Hyogo Awaji Onion soup for only P90. Read our full feature here.

Tsukada Nojo is a farm-to-table shabu-shabu brand originally from Japan and is known for its Bijin Nabe or golden chicken collagen hot pot, whose stock is stewed for more than 8 hours. Aside from hotpot, it also serves other modern Japanese dishes. It’s for people looking for a unique hotpot experience that includes beauty collagen. It’s not for those looking for traditional sushi and donburi meals. We recommend the Bijin Nabe hot pot and Chicken Nanban (original and spicy). Our insider tip is to ready your video cameras and watch the collagen pudding boil and turn into stock. Fun Fact: “Nojo” means farm and “Tsukada” is the name of their private farm in Miyazaki, Japan.

They claim to have the longest buffet table with the opening of their Glorietta branch. It’s for people looking to fill up their tummies without hurting their pockets. It’s not for people with small appetites. We recommend you plan out and pace your food helpings. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener is one of the top steakhouses in New York brought in by the SumoSam group. Aside from its already popular signature 100% dry-aged prime steaks, expect its menu to include seafood cocktails, soups, salads, and a selection of desserts—including New York cheesecake specially flown in. It’s for heavy steak eaters and some good wine. It’s not for casual beer nights. Here’s a fun fact: Wolfgang, not the celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, was previously a head waiter at Brooklyn’s Peter Luger.

Ippudo is a popular ramen joint specializing in Hakata-style Tonkotsu (pork-based) ramen produced in their kitchen and tailor-fitted for the Filipino palate. It is a joint venture with the guys at Yabu. It’s for straight up ramen minus the fancy embellishments of modern cuisine. It’s not for people looking for an extensive Japanese menu, although special items are regularly introduced. We recommend the Shiromaru Motoji ramen and the pork buns. They also serve a mean Matcha Brulee. Our insider tip is that cute “kiddie sets” may be requested for your little ones. P.S. Ippudo Matsuri cards are now available. Customers get free ramen after completing all 5 ramen sidekicks stamps.
