Book a table and get P300 off!

If you look up at the night sky, you may have to squint if you want to locate Ursa Minor, a constellation also known as Little Bear. It’s a similar experience trying to locate Little Bear Diner in  busy Kapitolyo, be it day or night.

Aptly named after the constellation, Little Bear Diner is a small restaurant with an eclectic menu and a big personality. The owners, Pau and Pam, have dipped their tasting spoons in everything from brunch to burgers to tacos, and even fresh pasta. After a turn of events and a meeting orchestrated by their moms, they’ve settled on a primarily Indian menu and set up the Cardamom Club.

Don’t be fooled by the small 20-seater hole in the wall because this little diner packs a flavorful punch. Pam and Pau are at the restaurant everyday and between greeting you at the door to explaining how the dish before you came to be, it’s pretty apparent that every corner of Little Bear Diner has a story to tell.

The menu doesn’t subscribe to one cuisine and it hasn’t always featured the Cardamom Club. They experimented with burger, brunch, taco, and fresh pasta menus and now, Pau and Pam are doing modern Indian cuisine. Little Bear Diner doesn’t overhaul the entire menu every time, they’ve kept favorites like the Full Monty Grilled Cheese and Spam Kimchi Fried Rice.

Pau and Pam met as neighbors over at Container Turf; Pau was selling homemade ice cream, while Pam specialized in Indian food. Being two of the younger stall owners, their moms intervened and forced nudged them to introduce themselves. That’s right, their moms pretty much instigated a playdate.

The two instantly clicked, bonding over their nagging mothers and heartbreaks they were both getting over. It wasn’t long before Pau invited Pam to join forces at Little Bear Diner and together, they recreated the menu and made magic.

At present, the Cardamom Club features Indian staples like Ama’s Chicken Biryani, Hummus, and Samosa Chaat. They use classic Indian flavors and elevate them to come up with things like the Fried Chicken Butter Waffles and the accidental dry rub for the South Spice Curry Wings (a must try!).

You can bet on the  freshness and authenticity of the flavors because Pam’s dad brings in the spices directly from India every couple of months. Little Bear Diner has one of those rare menus where you can order anything and it’s going to be a winner. The adorable duo that is Pau and Pam is a definite plus too.
