Haru Sushi Bar & Restaurant, from the same owners of another Kapitolyo favorite Cafe Juanita, is a casual dining spot serving affordable Japanese cuisine. The sakura-filled interiors with a bridge smack at the middle adds to the authenticity and romance of the place. It’s for sushi lovers. It’s not for people looking for a quick hit ramen bowl. We recommend the Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Sashimi and Unagi Kabayaki. It’s not for people looking for a quiet night. We recommend the Vineyard Pizza, Tipsy Wings and draft beers. Our insider tip is they start allowing smokers inside by 10pm. Located inside a hidden container hub, Diner on 16th is a homegrown, retro-style diner that serves American breakfast staples like waffles and pancakes.  it’s also one of the first to introduce the overloaded milkshake concept in the city. It’s best for brunches and after office drinks joint by night. It’s not for oldies who have a hard time climbing stairs. 5. Locavore Kitchen + Drinks – Brixton St.

Last month’s #3

Photo from @magocarla

True to its name, Locavore serves only locally grown and produced Filipino dishes with a French touch from Chef Mikel Zaguirre (of Taqueria 101 and newly opened Carnivalé). The open kitchen and industrial interiors adds to the modern hipster vibe of the restaurant. It’s for people who enjoy a twist to the classics. It’s not for an intimate occasion. We recommend the Sizzling Sinigang (ask for extra gravy!), Lechon & Oyster Sisig, and its underrated Ginataang Kalabasa. For rice lovers, it’s good to know they also serve brown rice. Our insider tip is to watch out for their seasonal market specials and new menu items. P.S. Locavore BGC offers a special brunch menu starting at 9AM.

It’s for foodies looking for new and unique Korean dishes. It’s not for people looking for grilled Korean BBQ. We recommend the Chicken Cheese Fondue, Snow Chicken Cheese, and Galbi Jim Dosirak.
