After seeing Our Awesome Planet’s 2015 Round up of 10 Most Awesome New Homegrown Restaurants and 10 Most Awesome New Franchised Restaurants, we were curious and excited to see how our data will compare to Anton’s list.
Our list is ranked based on the number of times a restaurant is added to a user’s “Favorites” list on the Booky app, we’ve summed them all up from January to mid-December and here are the results.
10. Outré Manila – Aguirre Ave.
Outré Manila, pronounced (o͞o-trāy) meaning unusual, startling or rebellious, is a rebellious little ice cream house serving made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream and delicious comfort food. Popular flavors include the Salted Caramel Overload and Bye Felicia (Pink Velvet Gelato). It is created by good friends Neslly Bretaña and MC Ambrocio.

9. Lazy Bastard – Jupiter St.
Lazy Bastard is a late night burger joint in an underground location. (Just follow the sign “Bacon & Burgers This Way” sign.) They aim to serve the greasiest and most ridiculous comfort food through their premium burgers and gourmet hotdogs. You have to try their Bacon Cheeseburger and Honey Parmesan dog. Also check out the hidden speakeasy behind the wooden door, ABV bar.

8. Le Petit Soufflé – Century City Mall
Le Petit Souffle is a French and Japanese-inspired cafe from the same people behind Century City Mall’s Hole in the Wall food hall and budding pastry chef Miko Aspiras of Scout’s Honor cookies. They serve modern dishes crafted with flavors and precision of Japanese and French cuisines. Signature dishes include the Foie Mac n Cheese, Squid Ink Rice, soufflés and matcha desserts.

7. Ooma – Mega Fashion Hall
Ooma is a modern Japanese restaurant by the Moment Group and young acclaimed chef Bruce Ricketts, the same partnership that brought us Mecha Uma. Ooma, a wordplay on Uma meaning ‘good’, promises bold Japanese flavors at affordable prices. Foodies can’t get over their Soft Shell Crab Taco- Maki, Hanger Steak and Uni Udon.

6. Papa Diddi’s Ice Cream Company – Maginhawa
Papa Diddi’s is an ice cream parlour focused on selling small batch, hand-mixed & hand packed all-natural premium ice cream, using produce sourced directly from farms, markets & gardens all over the Philippines. You can even take home pint-sized tubs. It is named after founder and owner Paul Perez’s father.

4. Alab Chef Tatung
‘Alab’, which is Tagalog for flame, serves the same ‘burning with passion’ Filipino dishes but more youthful and forward thinking. It’s for foodies looking for more than just traditional Filipino fare. Chef Tatung’s award-winning desserts from his previous restaurants include the New York Cubao Cheesecake and Pichi Pichi.

3. The Wholesome Table – Bonifacio High Street
The Wholesome Table is a wholly-organic restaurant that serves comfort food inspired by the dishes prepared by Bianca Araneta-Elizalde at home. All produce used in the dishes are organic and sourced locally where possible, the power juices are also prepared daily as well. In just under a year, Bianca has already opened 3 branches (Bonifacio High Street, Salcedo Village, Estancia Mall) around the metro.

2. The Lost Bread – Maginhawa
The Lost Bread is a container dessert shop that specializes in over-the-top, whimsical french toasts and milkshakes. It is one of the 12 vendors at the Streat: Maginhawa Food Park and also one of the most popularly Instagrammed desserts. FYI, it has a brother called Mr. Diggins at the new Box Park food park along Congressional Avenue.
