Book a table and get P300 off!

A lot of people want to open restaurants. Sure, some people open places in haste and they don’t do too well. Others start with out-of-the-box ideas that had the timing right and they just flew. There are also those who wait for the perfect time and the perfect concept before they start building menus and dinner services.  Alter Ego did just that.

Straight out of culinary school, the trio knew they wanted to open a place of their own but they wanted everything to be just right. It’s possible that they never decided what was just right because Alter Ego is an Asian-European fusion restaurant.

Looking at the restaurant from the outside, it’s very modern and minimal. In away, it’s very neutral so that the food is the main attraction. Inside the restaurant, which was completely designed by the owners, each wall has it’s own theme.

The photographs on the walls were either taken by the owners or are photos of the owners themselves. The decor on the shelves are from the owners’ travels and are mementos from all over the world. Alter Ego really is a fusion of so many places and showcases them from the walls to your plate.

Most fusion spots mesh together 2 cuisines (French-Japanese, Filipino-Mexican, etc.) but Alter Ego is mixing and matching as many elements from as many cuisines as possible. It’s a tall order and by some miracle, it worked.

Their menu is not big but it’s one big mashup. French onion soup gyoza (French-Japanese) and Pandan Chicken Paella (Thai-Spanish) are just the tips of the iceberg. Alter Ego, and their modern mashup of classic dishes, is full of flavor combinations that will surprise you.

The original plan for Alter Ego was supposed to be a degustation restaurant. With a risque concept as wide as theirs, however, they decided to stick to an ala carte restaurant for now and work out the kinks.

Testing is not something the owners are unfamilar with. They spent 4 months testing their recipes and concepts with several groups of people before they found the jackpot combinations. And let us tell you now, they picked real winners.
