Cafe Congreso – Bulacan
Cafe Congreso is a newly-opened, pastel-coloured cafe in Malolos, Bulacan and it is a feast for the eyes!

The founder, Joseph Malabanan, has always wanted to put up his own cafe ever since high school. He’s a self-confessed coffee lover and like most of us, enjoyed going to Starbucks. It’s not until he visited Manila for the first time that he discovered the specialty cafe scene.

Using this as his main inspiration, he enrolled in workshops on how to make specialty coffee and that’s when he decided that he’ll build his own cafe from the ground up to serve specialty coffee in his hometown in Bulacan.
As some of you have guessed, the interiors of the cafe is very much Wes Anderson-inspired, particularly his 2014 classic, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
He wanted to offer something different and unique and so he chose to go for pastel colors rather than usual mahogany tones and wooden accents.
You’ll notice that the colors generally used are pastel pink and mint green, with subtle accents of golden brown and teal.
Fun fact: They source their espresso blends and single-origin coffees from local roasters, mainly from Yardstick Coffee.
Even the plates were carefully-curated to suit the theme of this cafe!
Aside from specialty coffee, they also serve all-day breakfast meals, pastas, pizzas, pastries, and house-made ice cream.
