Breakfast lovers rejoice!

2016 is already such an interesting year for the food community. Local publications and online editorials have released a number of lists confirming news of several international brands from all over the world opening in Manila this year.

One franchise news of bigger magnitude is a 60-year old, classic family diner and fast food giant, Denny’s. It is set to open its doors at the new Uptown Parade in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, all thanks to the Bistro Group.

Before it finally opens, here’s everything you need to know:

Denny’s

Denny’s started as a 24/7 donut stand in 1953, previously named Danny’s, in Lakewood, California. Over the years, Denny’s have always lived by one of its original founders, Harold Butler’s, promise: ‘to serve the best cup of coffee, make the best donuts, give the best service, offer the best value, and stay open 24 hours a day.” 

In 2013, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary with over 1,700 branches worldwide.

Denny’s is “America’s Diner” and is best known for its collection of signature breakfast meals.

The Grand Slams feature hefty breakfast plates that involves eggs, waffles, regular toasts, french toasts, sausages, muffins, bacon, hash, grits, oatmeal and yogurt.  If you’re feeling creative, “Build Your Own Grand Slam” lets you choose any four items to fill your plate. Kids also get to join in on the fun as they have their own special Jr. Grand Slam and Jr. French Toast platters.

The $2 $4 $6 $8 menu offers smaller breakfast value meals including $2 french toasts, $4 cookies & cream mega sundae and $4 all-you-can-eat pancake.

Huge omelettes and skillets are also part of its breakfast offerings.

Aside from breakfast items, Denny’s also serves burgers (which also include a build your own burger), sandwiches, salads, FitFare meals for the health-conscious, a kids’ menu and even a 55+ menu.

The Grand Slamwich

Two scrambled eggs, crumbled sausage, bacon, shaved ham and American cheese on potato bread grilled with a maple spice spread. Served with fries.

Slamburger

Handpressed beef patty, crispy hash browns, an egg cooked to order, pepper jack and two bacon strips. Served on a brioche bun and a side of fries.

Cream Cheese Cinnamon Pancake Plate

Two buttermilk pancakes drizzled with cinnamon sauce and cream cheese icing. Served with bacon, fries, and two eggs (sunny side up or scrambled).

Brewed Coffee

Word is their 137-seater BGC branch is also having a patio for outdoor seating, which also serves as a smoking area. If you’re coming out of late night partying at nearby establishments like The Palace Pool Club or Valkyrie, this is definitely the best place to cure your hangover.

Insider tip: Their second branch is set to open on October 31, 2016 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
