All milk tea lovers are aware of the amount of plastic that goes into buying our favorite drinks, and we’ve been doing our part to minimize waste, most commonly having our own reusable milk tea straws. But two industrial designers from Taiwan have created an even more environmentally friendly product that will allow us to indulge without the guilt of pollution!
FLOAT cups are no-straw cups made for bubble tea, made with recycled glass featuring compartments for boba or pearls for a straw-less experience.
Taiwan’s tea culture is an evolving phenomenon that the we are invested in. All the milk tea branches from Taiwan like Tiger Sugar, Xing Fu Tang, and The Alley have been on our radar, and the bubble black tea movement is something that we’ve incorporated into our favorites.
Coming up with an innovative solution, industrial designers Mickey Wu and Fang Shih created the FLOAT cup, which features a glass-made compartment for your boba or pearls, eliminating the need of straws. As it pushes down the ice to the middle of the cup for a leveled-out temperature, the experience of sipping the milk tea that flows through the ice and ends with the boba tipping in your mouth, no plastic straws will be used in the making.
The rise of environmental awareness is here, and while we all undoubtedly love milk tea, the accumulation of all our guilty pleasures amount to a billion disposable plastic cups and straws every year. With FLOAT cups, we can change our drink container of choice in order to change the environmental outcome our drinking habits contribute to.
This FLOAT cup will be available this Winter 2019, so stay tuned!
