They say that one of the best and quickest ways to learn about a country is through its food and Las Paellas has rightfully made its name by showcasing the best of Spanish cuisine without compromising the Filipino palate.

Since they first opened in 1997, Las Paellas has continually been a family favorite when tapas, paella and sangria are in mind. With the overwhelming number of dining options available, we still never get tired of going back to reliable classics. Here are 8 of our top curated reasons why Las Paellas is here to stay.

1. Gambas Al Ajilio

Kick off your trip to the Iberian Peninsula with a taste of the sea. Sauteed in olive oil, garlic and chili pepper, this classic tapas will make you want to dive on into the next dish. Insider tip: Once you’ve eaten all the shrimps, dip the bread into the leftover sauce to make the most of this starter.

2. Baked Clams

Everyone usually orders the oysters rockefeller and end up ignoring their underrated sizzling baked clams in garlic butter sauce, which are also show stealers.

3. Chorizo Sisig

If Spanish and Filipino cuisine got married, this would be their baby. Combining 2 of the most popular specialties of both cuisines, Las Paellas definitely hit a home run with this ultimate comfort dish.

4. Paella

As their name suggests, the crowd-favorite paella is the heart and soul of Las Paellas Cafe. This traditional Spanish rice staple comes in 4 variants–the original Valenciana, the old favorite Paella Negra, the seafood Marinara, and the new Chicken and Mushroom Paella. One serving of paella is good for 3-5 people, so be sure to bring a big appetite and a bunch of friends. Insider tip: If you like your paella with a few crusty bits or “tutong”, as it is locally called, you can request to have your paella cooked on high to achieve maximum crunchiness.

5. Porkchop Andaluz

This isn’t your typical Spanish dish, but it’s definitely a crowd favorite. Why? Because it’s wine-infused pork chops! Its name alone makes us wish we were currently vacationing in sunny Andalusia in the South of Spain.

6. Sangria

As with most Spanish food, Sangria is best enjoyed with a group of friends. This refreshing wine punch combines red wine, chopped fruits and a touch of brandy, which makes for the perfect after-work or weekend drink.

7. Churros

To cap off your trip to Spain, an order of these sugary fried fritters that come with a serving of thick, hot chocolate, will leave you counting down the days ’til your next visit.

8. Interiors

We know this isn’t a dish but we just had to include it. Las Paellas Cafe’s warm color scheme and bright interiors complete the whole Spanish dining experience.
