Need non-meat dishes this Lent? You’ve come to the right place.

For heavy eaters like us, it’s difficult finding restaurants serving delicious non-meat options. Sometimes, we all need a break from our meaty adventures. For some, it’s to make room for a lower cholesterol intake, and for others, to observe their Lenten practices.

Check out these vegetarian and pescetarian-friendly restaurant finds this Holy Week.

They serve modern vegan and gluten-free dishes from various cuisines as well as good wines, local beers and house cocktails. It’s for both vegetarians and omnivores. Edgy Veggy, by agriculturist and health advocate Denise Celdran, began as a mission to promote wellness and proper diet for vegetarians. They are primarily a vegetarian food delivery service but also a small cafe serving the Kapitolyo-based residents and office goers. It’s for people living alone or don’t have time to prepare their own organic veggie meals. It’s not for people who want meat in their daily diet. We recommend the Big Burger Burrito and Korean rice meal. Our insider tip is that they’re closed on Sundays, so plan your veggie meals by having your food delivered ahead of time.

SUSI is Manila’s first and only 100% plant-based restaurant and deli. Susi, which is Tagalog for key, is the name and symbol that best represents their corporate mission. Their advocacy for a meatless lifestyle is what they deem as the ‘key to sustainable living’. It’s for anyone who loves modern vegetarian/vegan cuisines. It’s not for meat-lovers. We recommend the El Chimichurri and the Beet Burger. Our insider tip is that SUSI’s owner is actually the niece of Corner Tree Cafe’s owner, so you just know you could get great, healthy food at both restaurants!
