Anyone who has dined at King Chef Seafood Restaurant can attest to the restaurant’s warm and inviting interiors. For many Chinese-Filipino families, King Chef has become a staple for wedding receptions, family reunions, get-togethers, and other social events.
Before it became the King Chef that we know today, it was once a restaurant known as Cantonese Soup Kitchen.
The owners Marites and Michael Ang developed the idea out of necessity; Michael had been dealing with an illness that prevented him from eating the food that he liked. Out of her loving desire to make the diet easier on him, Marites concocted a variety of delicious soups, which would eventually become the backbone of King Chef’s menu.
Later on, they would introduce dim sum and other Cantonese dishes to the menu due to popular demand from their loyal customers. Today, King Chef’s current offering includes Roasted items, Hot Pot dishes, Noodle and Rice dishes, and a special Seafood Selection featuring 25 different ways of cooking!
They use only the best ingredients, with the finest herbs and spices imported from China. Here are some of their best-selling dishes:
Beef Broccoli
In this staple Chinese dish, King Chef takes tender beef and lays it on a bed of broccoli. In case you didn’t know, broccoli is known to have a multitude of health benefits!
Crispy Noodles with Seafood
Here, a light and delicious seafood sauce is ladled onto a nest of crispy noodles. The contrast in textures is what makes this dish so great!
Hot Shrimp Salad
Another dish that plays with contrast is the Hot Shrimp Salad. Sweet and savory interplay to make this dish a favorite among diners. Fried shrimp and fruit salad with mayonnaise sounds like it shouldn’t work but one bite will prove it does!
