Lucky for you, we’ve compiled a hefty, tried-and-tested list of Michelin-star rated restaurants to awesome street eats, with a few dessert shops–all for your next visit to Hong Kong.

Kau Kee Restaurant – Sheung Wan

Your patience will be tested if ever you decide to try this 90+ years old restaurant at Gough Street, known for its delicious and comforting Beef Brisket Noodles. If you’re up for a challenge, their Spicy Curry Beef Brisket Noodles is also worth the heat.

Yat Lok Restaurant – Central

If there’s one thing you need to try at Hong Kong, it’s Roasted Goose. Yat Lok is a no-frills type of restaurant serving the best Roasted Goose, which has actually earned them a Michelin star! You can have it as is, with rice or with noodles!

Fun fact: Anthony Bourdain visited this quaint restaurant and said, "That's worth flying all the way to Hong Kong for."

Oddies Foodies – Wan Chai

One of the many popular dessert shops here is Oddies Foodies, known for it artisan gelato and crafted egg-waffle ice cream! They put their own creative spin to their extravagant desserts and add stuff like panna cotta, apple yuzu jelly, cookies, cake bits, and more!

Second Draft – Tai Hang

Second Draft is a neighbourhood Chinese gastropub serving unique dishes like Deep Fried Eel Sandwich, HK French Toast with Foie Gras Butter, Lobster Chaella and many more.

Cupping Room – Sheung Wan

Some say this hidden gem called, Cupping Room, has the ‘best coffee in Hong Kong’ with some of their most skilled baristas winning titles in the World Barista Championship competitions. They also serve breakfast meals and lunch sets during weekdays.

Delicious Kitchen – Causeway Bay

Go crazy over Delicious Kitchen’s famous Pork Rib Rice! Many have been raving about it, with tourists including this quaint restaurant in their vacation itinerary. Their dish may look simple at first, but once you take a bite, you’ll know how tender, juicy and tasty it is. Order a side of Beef Tendon Nanjing Style, too!

Elephant Grounds – Sheung Wan & Causeway Bay

One of Hong Kong’s pride when it comes to artisan coffee, Elephant Grounds will surprise their customers because they don’t just specialize in making a cuppa joe, their brunch items (they have Torched Salmon Donburi here!) and desserts will make you come back for more too. Aside from their popular ice cream sandwiches, also try their Japanese Taro and Thai Milk Tea ice cream!

Little Bao – Central

Dubbed by many as Hong Kong’s ‘Asian Burgers‘, Little Bao will delight you with their many choices of bao creations for its impeccable taste, despite the small size. They also have bao ice cream sandwiches and their truffle fries is a definite must-order too!

Yardbird – Sheung Wan

Yardbird is a  Japanese Izakaya restaurant that specializes in yakitori and everything chicken in their menu. But that’s not just where they’re good at; you need to try their Tempura Corn BallKorean Fried Cauliflower and their own version of Macaroni and Cheese too!

Under Bridge Spicy Crab – Wan Chai

Care for some chili crabs? Look no further because Under the Bridge is famous for its Spicy Crab which you can order with an option for its spiciness level: Slightly Spicy, Mild Spicy, Medium Spicy, Very Spicy and Super Spicy. Take your pick and check out their other seafood items in the menu!

Tsui Wah Restaurant – The Peak

Tsui Wah is the largest and most famous tea restaurant in Hong Kong with over 26 branches there, 2 in Macau, and 22 in mainland China. Some of their best-sellers include the King Prawns in XO Sauce with Tossed Noodles, Crispy Buns Served With Sweet Condensed Milk, Fish Balls and Fish Cakes in Fish Soup and Milk Tea.

Honeymoon Dessert – Langham Place

Honeymoon Dessert is a product of love and passion for everything sweet and healthy, established in 1998 by 5 students who were friends since secondary school, . Their mango series with the famous Yeung Chi Kam Lo (made of mango, grapefruit, sago, coconut milk, carnation, sugar and ice cream) and Mango Pancakes are two of their bestsellers!

Omotesando Koffee – Wan Chai

Omotesando Koffee is a minimalist cafe serving cube-shaped baked custard and specialty coffee like Iced Cafe Mocha and Iced Cappuccino to name a few.

Mak’s Noodle – Central & Causeway Bay

A trip to Hong Kong can never be complete without a taste of their very own, Wonton Noodles. And what better place to get this comforting dish, but in Mak’s Noodle, run by the direct descendants of Mak Woon-chi, who’s said to be the ‘wonton master’ in Hong Kong.

Lau Sum Kee Noodle – Sham Shui Po

One of the iconic shops in Hong Kong that is known to create their noodles from scratch, Lau Sum Kee should be included in the top of your must-try restaurants when in Hong Kong for authentic and flavorsome noodles. We heard that their Shrimp Roe Noodles is so good and worth every penny!

Kam Fung Cafe – Wan Chai

For baked goods, Kam Fung Cafe is the answer to your prayers! They’re popular for their eggs tarts, chicken pies, pineapple buns with butter and milk tea. Grab a bite here and even order some of their other pastries for take-out!

Lei Yue Men – Kwun Tong

This is HK’s version of Manila’s seaside dampa. Experience the hustle and bustle of this fishing village and wet market. Buy fresh seafood and pick your restaurant. It may be far from the city but the Alaskan King Crabs, Lobster Cheese Pasta and Steamed Scallops with Vermicelli Noodles will be worth your trip.
