Know more about Kiwami Food Hall:

Japanese cuisine in the Philippines has always been more than just hand-rolled sushi. It’s a scene that’s definitely continuously expanding and evolving, with the best Japanese restaurants in the metro offering everything from melt-in-your-mouth wagyu cubes to steaming bowls of hearty and slurp-worthy ramen.

When it comes to Japanese cuisine, there’s truly something for everyone. You’ll even find both traditional and modern Japanese fares throughout the country. But if there’s anything they all have in common, it’s their hospitality, the wholehearted sense of service they provide, and how they pour their craft and mastery into every detail. There’s even a term they coined that perfectly describes this. It’s called, ‘Omotenashi‘.

At Kiwami Food Hall, the new all-Japanese concept by The Standard Group, this way of life is well and truly alive. It’s a space that houses four different Japanese restaurants that champion four key staple Japanese dishes: ramen, tendon, yakitori, and tonkatsu.

We have Yabu and Ippudo, two longtime beloved Japanese restaurants known for premium katsu and Hakata-style ramen respectively, and two new additions namely, Yakitori Hachibei and Hannosuke.

Yakitori Hachibei is a family-run business that’s been serving authentic Buta bara-style yakitori since 1983. They’re famed for using Binchotan charcoal which is made from oak trees—giving their grilled skewers a hint of extra flavor. If you find yourself looking for a yakitori fix, we recommend their Sukiyaki Spinach Enoki, Buta Bara, and Tebasaki.

If you’re not feeling like having grilled skewers, you also have the option of getting Tokyo’s premiere tempura tendon at Hannosuke instead. Though a little bit more on the pricier side, you’ll surely get your money’s worth with their very generous portions and great-tasting food.

The Premium Tendon Set comes with their claim to fame unagi, ebi, squid, and scallop kakiage, onsen tamago, eggplant, sweet potato, and nori. They’re lightly battered and crisp to perfection and served over fluffy Japanese rice, and then finished off with their heirloom tendon sauce. Pro-tip: Before you dive into your bowl, mix the onsen tamago into the rice for best consumption.

And of course, there’s always room for dessert! Just as an added bonus, they also have a stall dedicated to selling Hokkaido soft serve and their homemade Lengua de Gato cone—the perfect way to end your meal on a sweet note!
