Definitely one of the best homegrown Italian places in the metro today.
Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen is (or rather was) one of South’s biggest neighborhood secrets, but because good restaurants can’t hide forever, it is now a foodie’s destination for authentic Italian eats.
French-Canadian Richard Tremblay and his late Filipina wife, Marilou, are the brains behind this homey Italian favorite. Before Mama Lou’s, the couple had opened a classic French-Italian restaurant named Cafe Francais along Aguirre Ave. in BF Homes.
After years of operations, the company decided to relocate to a more spacious 400-sqm, 2-storey home in Las Pinas and direct focus on what Filipinos love more, Italian comfort food. Cafe Francais was rebranded to Mama Lou’s, in honor of Marilou Tremblay.
Six years later, now led by Richard and Marilou’s daughter, Crystal and husband David Sison, Mama Lou’s has opened 2 more branches including one at UP Town Center and another in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
From humble beginnings to a success story, Mama Lou’s definitely hits the spot when it comes to Italian comfort food. Everything is made to order and quality assured; their signature pastas, fresh and handmade everyday.
