If you love pancakes, then you’re in for some sweet, fluffy eye drool.

Pancake Day (or Mardi Gras, or Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday. Centuries ago, flour, eggs, and sugar, all of which are important ingredients of pancakes, were not allowed to be consumed during Lent because they were considered to be luxury foods. So, the day before Ash Wednesday became Pancake Day, a day to make the last batch of pancakes until Easter. Put simply, it’s pre-Lent bingeing.

Every year since 2006, international pancake house IHOP sets a date to celebrate this joyous event through a ‘Carbs for a Cause’ event. This year is IHOP’s 10th National Pancake Day (IHOP Philippines’ 2nd) and guests will be able to enjoy unlimited buttermilk pancakes from 7AM to 11PM for only P250. That same amount will be donated to Kythe Foundation, a local non-profit organization aimed at helping children with chronic illnesses through their Child Life Program.
