Pancit Canton and pandesal are definitely staple items in every household among Filipinos. Either on its on or paired together, these are definitely flavors of home and can easily be one of our go-to comfort foods whenever we want to have a quick delicious meal.
Since you can pair these 2 together, did you know that you can have pancit canton IN your pandesal? Yes, imagine taking a bite of a soft pandesal and finding a flavorful surprise of pancit canton in the center, it’s life-changing! We found this easy recipe from Kats Happy Food that you can try at home.
What you need:
- 2 packs of cooked pancit canton, any brand of your choice (can be spicy too!)
- 1 kilo of flour
- 180g white sugar
- 15g yeast
- 2 eggs
- 450mL water
- 15g salt
- 120g butter (sliced into small blocks)
- In a bowl, add in flour, white sugar, yeast, eggs and water.
- In a mixer, mix until well combined. Then add in salt and small blocks of butter.
- If your dough is sticky and soft, put it out of your mixer.
- Knead your dough for about 10 minutes until it’s elastic.
- Leave the dough in a bowl, coated with oil, until it doubles in size.
- Transfer dough on a flat surface and punch out the air bubbles.
- On a kitchen weighing scale, weigh 80g of dough for each piece.
- Using your hands, flatten the dough and add cooked pancit canton as your filling and form a ball. Continue this step until dough is consumed.
- In a baking tray, coated with oil, arrange your pancit canton filled dough. Let it rest until it doubles in size.
- Once they double in size, bake these for 20 minutes at 350F.
- Serve and enjoy!
