Who doesn’t love tacos? Ever since someone discovered that tortillas could serve as an edible plate for meats and veggies, the human race hasn’t looked back. Name a better dish that conveniently eliminates the need for cutlery and tableware! (Hint: You can’t.)

We’ve come up with a list of taco joints around the Metro that serve up delicious tacos, just in time for National Taco Day! Whether soft or hard, corn or flour tortilla, authentic or fusion, one thing that ties up these places is damn good food.

OnlyPans – Makati

A famous, well-loved taqueria in Poblacion, OnlyPans serves up mouth-watering Birria tacos that will bring you to your knees and plead, “Grease, please!”. This is the perfect spot to drop by after partying and drinking around the area, or when you’re just craving for some sinfully good food.

Tittos is the newest taco place located along foodie strip of Kapitolyo. It serves a menu of unique Filipino dishes with a Latin American twist. The sisig tacos uses pork maskara, chicharones and melted cheese.

Gringo – various branches

Gringo is a local concept from the Tokyo Bubble Tea group that specializes in Latin American and Tex-Mex specialties including chicken, ribs and burritos. They have a number of taco dishes but we especially love their Chili Con Carne Crispy Taco, Porky Pork Belly Taco, Latin Salpicao Taco, and Spicy Tuna Taco!

Lágrima – Legaspi Village

Lágrima (which translates to “tears”) is part of the wave of hip coffee/taco concepts sprouting all over Makati. They make everything from scratch including their tortillas and slow-cooked meat for their carnitas tacos. Must tries also include the chorizo taco and the carne asada taco!

El Chupacabra is a Mexican-American restaurant serving street tacos, barbecue and cheap beer. It’s a favorite among expats who frequent the area. They serve your  standard Tex-Mex tacos but we recommend trying their Street Tacos if you’re more adventurous! Favorites include the Carne Asada, Camarones a la Diabla, Chorizo con Papas, and Baja California Fish Tacos.
