It’s for dumpling lovers who want to try out of the box xiao long bao. It’s not for foodies looking for fusion or modern cuisine. We recommend their Crab Roe and Pan Fried Xaio Long Bao and their famous Giant Tang Bao. Our insider tip: ask for a straw to go with your Giant Tang Bao. You’re gonna need it!

9. Locavore – Forbes Town Center
Locavore serves Filipino dishes with a French touch, curated by Chef Mikel Zaguirre. It’s for people who enjoy a good twist on local classics. It’s not for intimate occasions. We recommend their signature Sizzling Sinigang, Lechon & Oyster Sisig, and the underrated Ginataang Kalabasa. Also check out their new Duck Lugaw Foie Gras, Champorado ni Speedy and Beef Silog. Our insider tip: Their special brunch menu is only available at this branch for now. Service starts at 9AM.
8. Todd English Food Hall – SM Aura
Named after an American celebrity Chef, Todd English offers food from all over the world in an upscale food hall setting. It has 9 different food stations including: salad & charcuterie, sushi, raw, Asian, pizza, pasta, grill & ocean, and the wine & tapas bar. It’s for people who like big menus or want to eat in a big group. It’s not for dieters who are vulnerable to temptation. We recommend their Fig & Prosciutto flatbread, truffle pasta, T.E. Porkchop and Torched Nigiri Stairs. Our insider tip: They’re open until 11pm, perfect if you’re getting a late dinner after a movie date.
7. Va Bene Pasta Deli – Central Square

Va Bene (which means “it’s good” in Italian) has been named one Manila’s best Italian restaurants one too many times and is known for serving fresh handmade pastas by Italian Chef Massimo Veronesi. It’s for pasta lovers who can’t get enough of perfect al dente pasta dishes. Portions are good for sharing if you’re not a big eater. It’s not for people who hate carbs. We recommend Chef Massimo Veronesi’s bestsellers, which are the Black Ink Tagliolini and Organic Eggs Tagliatelle. Even the complimentary bruschetta with salsa dip is good. Namoo House is known for their premium and quality cuts of beef and pork cooked over charcoal grill. All their premium meats are wet aged for 2 weeks to enhance the flavors. It’s for a premium Korean barbeque experience. It’s not for those expecting to smell like anything other than grilled meats. Little Flour Cafe is Wildflour’s little sister – bringing Wildflour’s best-selling brunch meals, pastries, desserts, coffee, wine and drinks together with new locally-inspired dishes, such as rice bowls and other Filipino delicacies. It’s not for you if you’re looking for muesli or eggs benedict, Little Flour has a more Pinoy approach to brunch. We recommend their Longganisa Breakfast Sandwich, Calamansi Cream Pie, and Champorado.

4. Kko Kko – Market! Market!

Kko Kko is a modern Korean chicken house that uses traditional and contemporary recipes that came from Grace Lee and her mom. Their menu is divided into three main categories – Korean Fried Chicken, Korean Street Food, and Dosirak (Korean lunch box) – each narrating a story about the dining setting and customs of Korea. It’s for foodies looking for new and unique Korean dishes. It’s not for people looking for grilled Korean BBQ. We recommend the Chicken Cheese Fondue, Snow Chicken Cheese, and Galbi Jim Dosirak. Our insider tip is the place is quite small and may get full quickly on peak hours, so make sure to book a table ahead of time. Fun Fact: Kko Kko was named after the sound that a chicken makes.
3. NIU by Vikings – SM Aura

NIU is Vikings Buffet 2.0–the interiors are more modern and luxurious, definitely an upgrade from its pioneer sister brand. The restaurant can accommodate around 350 people per timeslot (lunch and dinner) and it boasts of 9 different food stations of various dishes and cuisines. It even has function rooms for your private events. It’s for families, friends and even couples celebrating special occasions. It’s not for people with small appetites. 2. Olivia & Co. – Uptown Mall
Olivia & Co. seeks to become the go to place for a gourmet experience. They serve artisanal coffee and tea to compliment food inspired by various cuisines of the world. The international franchise hails from Singapore and by the looks of it, they’re taking Manila by storm. It’s for families, friends, and individuals getting some work done. It’s not for crazy drinking (though they do serve alcohol) and loud partying. We recommend the Laksa Pasta, Tokyo Wings, and the Passion Fruit White Chocolate Cheesecake. 1. Tsuta Ramen – Bonifacio High Street
A Michelin-star awardee for its Tokyo branch, Tsuta Ramen offers their signature shio, shoyu, and miso ramen as well as sides and small rice bowls. It’s for ramen aficionados and amateurs alike. It’s not for people looking for a wide menu with a varied selection. We recommend the Char Siu Ajitama Shoyu Soba. It’s on the pricey side of ramen but so worth it. Our insider tip: get that extra Ajitama. You know you want to.
