Though they are located in a 1950s ancestral home in Malatethe team behind Purple Yam is actually based in Brooklyn. There they are recognized as pioneers in globalizing Filipino cuisine and advocates of using supporting small, local producers. Mai Wei Fang is a casual Chinese restaurant focused on wheat flour based recipes. They are the first in the Philippines to offer signature pan fried soup dumplings (Sheng Jian Bao) all the way from Shanghai, China. We recommend trying their succulent CFC (Chinese Fried Chicken), a fillet of chicken breast marinated for over 12 hours with a blend of Chinese herbs and spices, then breaded, and fried to perfection!
