Osaka Ohsho is an internationally known Japanese chain specializing in the ‘world’s #1 gyoza‘, which comes in 3 flavors: original, cheese, and nori. Three sauces are available as well: original, chili, and miso. It’s for foodies who have been looking for quality gyoza in Manila. It’s not for people looking for sushi platters, ramen bowls or tonkatsu meals. We recommend the Fuwatoro Tenshin Han Gyoza Set, which is already good for 2. It comes with a serving of Fuwatoro Tenshin Han (premium Japanese rice wrapped in omelette and bathed in gravy), 12 pcs. of gyoza and 2 servings of miso soup and fruits. Our insider tip: You can order to-go frozen gyoza to be enjoyed at home!

Bad Bird specializes in fried chicken flavored with umami spices. It first gained popularity at Hole in the Wall, an upscale food court at Century City Mall. This is its first stand alone branch. It’s for everyone who loves a good fried chicken with a twist and spicy kick. It’s not for people who shy away from deep fried food. We recommend the Waffle Plate plus dirty rice, corn cobs and hush puppies on the side. Everyone loves their corn. Our insider tip is their gravy isn’t free.

The Lost Bread is a container shop that specializes in over-the-top milkshakes, while The Lost Bread HQ offers a more well-rounded menu that includes all-day modern Pinoy brunch menu, specialty French toasts, unique desserts, blue soft serve ice cream and a new collection of overshakes. It’s for the locals and students living, studying or working in the UP Village area. It’s not for party groups as it may be difficult to look for seats. We recommend the Fried Mashed Potato Balls, Sinigang Beef Sukiyaki and Beef Tapa with Coffee Rice. For desserts, try their Blue Soft Serve, limited Matcha Flan and milkshakes. Here’s a fun fact: Their store name, The Lost Bread, is a direct translation of  ‘pain de perdu’, the stale bread used to make French toast. See more photos and insider tips here.
