This Cali born business was started by the San Luis brothers in 2013. Today, there are several branches all over California and their first international branch can be found right here in Pasig at Ayala Malls The 30th.

Vampire Penguin’s rendition of shaved ice dessert is reminiscent of Taiwanese baobing, Korean bingsu, and Japanese kakigori. But what makes their product stand out is that it has the consistency of fresh fallen snow. This texture is achieved with the help of a special machine that spins the ice and shaves it finely into layers and layers of fluffy snow.

Vampire Penguin – Ayala Malls The 30th
Vampire Penguin is a dessert shop from California that specializes in shaved snow desserts. It’s a family-owned business by the San Luis brothers that started in 2013.
They now have several branches all over California, and their first international branch can be found at the newly-opened, Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig.
Their concept is very similar to that of the Taiwanese shaved ice, Korean bingsu and Japanese kakigori, but not quite so; it’s a shaved ice dessert that has the consistency of fresh fallen snow. The shaved snow isn’t ice cream, but it’s somewhere in between.
They just recently opened their first branch here last February 20 and has been attracting people of all ages ever since. It’s conveniently near the cinemas too!
And if you’re curious to know what’s the story behind the name, ‘Vampire Penguin’, here’s what they have to say:
"Vampire penguin is the only penguin in the North pole. He resides in the outskirts of Santa's property, rolling magical flavored snow for families and friends. However, it wasn't always like this; a long time ago, vampire penguin was just an ordinary penguin living in the South pole. After being bit by a vampire bat, he flees from his homeland to find a place of solitude and away from harming his family as a vampire."
In order to create this unique dessert, the mixture of the ice blended with fruit concentrates and cream is frozen in cylindrical molds then placed in an equipment that spins the ice and shaves them finely into layers and layers of fluffy snow. The result is magical and something that you have to experience yourself!

You can choose to build your own snow from scratch! First, you’ll need to pick a flavor and then you can add as many toppings as you want.
